  1. Novell Introduces "NetWare Ready" DR DOS LANPacks

  5. MONTEREY, Calif., -- May 5, 1992 -- Novell, Desktop Systems Group today
  6. announced DR DOS LANPacks for Novell NetWare users.  The LANPacks provide:
  7.  
  8.  *  Remote install and configuration from the server
  9.  *  Complete NetWare workstation tools for DOS and Windows
  10.  *  100 percent Windows 3.1 compatibility
  11.  *  Economical pricing
  12.  
  13. "DR DOS LANPack is designed to assist our customers in taking the hassle
  14. out of upgrading and getting the performance benefits of the latest DOS
  15. technology on nodes across the network," said John Edwards, executive vice
  16. president of Novell, Desktop  Systems Group.  "Now users can install DR
  17. DOS LANPacks once on the server saving all the time and money associated
  18. with multiple installations at various sights."

  20. The DR DOS LANPack builds on the benefits of DR DOS 6.0 by adding remote
  21. installation and configuration features and NetWare workstations tools for
  22. DOS and Windows.  The DR DOS LANPack is installed once on the NetWare
  23. server.  The network administrator can update users login script and
  24. pre-configure DR DOS which can be automatically downloaded onto client PCs
  25. with the latest NetWare shell(NETX), all without user disruption.

  27. The "NetWare ready" DR DOS LANPack includes the NetWare workstation kits
  28. for DOS/Windows.  It supports Windows 3.0 and 3.1 and includes:  advanced
  29. versions of the NetWare client shell and SPX/IPX drivers; extended and
  30. expanded memory shell options; burst-mode protocol that dramatically
  31. improves network performance; and new Windows workstation tools and
  32. enhanced network installations program for Windows' users.

  34. DR DOS 6.0 is the most advanced DOS in the industry, offering more memory
  35. to run applications, increased disk capacity through built-in compression
  36. technology, and a high-performance disk cache.   DR DOS 6.0 is fully
  37. compatible with Microsoft Windows 3.0 and 3.1, and offers enhanced Windows
  38. performance by optionally reconfiguring the client PCs using DR DOS'
  39. memory and disk management technology.  "My compatibility problems were
  40. solved instantly with the DR DOS Business Update," said Peter M. DaCosta,
  41. GumTree Graphics.  It was easy to install and my copy of Windows 3.1 runs
  42. flawlessly."
